What you need to know when choosing a floor?

• Calculate the area of a room. If you are going to lay the floor conventionally (along the room), add additional 5 % to the area of the room. If you are going to lay the floor across, add 7 %.
• Calculate the quantity of skirting boards, do not forget sills, door pillars and pipe finishing.
• Commonly, we choose parquet in consideration of the colour and drawing of the wood. Usually, parquet is categorised according to its branchiness, colour and texture to three or four sorting categories (Country, Rustic, Classic, Select).
• Choosing the colour of your floor, first of all you have to pay attention to the size of your room, the colour of walls and furniture. You should remember that the floor should not be of the same colour as the walls or furniture.
• The floor of darker colours would make your interior warmer, however it is advisable to avoid dark floor in small rooms, especially if the walls are also dark. Keep in mind that scratches are more visible on the dark floor.
 • In the event if the ceiling of your room is low, it is advisable to choose a light-coloured floor. For those who like classical décor, the natural wood colour is recommended. Deep, bright colours fit the best for commercial premises, offices with huge spaces, where the floor is the main detail of the decor of the interior, for example, various red shades of oak.  Warm gold, brown and red hues will bring some comfort. White and grey tones will make the room visually more spacious.
• Two-layered Wegafloor parquet boards have good thermal conductivity properties, making them an excellent fit also for heated floors.  This is a great alternative to the more expensive solid wood floors, reliable, durable flooring. It is a perfect solution to give the room a luxurious appearance, comfort and the sense of cosiness.

It is advisable to pay attention to the type lamella coating, whether it is lacquer or oil.

• The oiled surface looks more naturally, unlike varnish, it allows the wood to breathe, the sensation of natural wood touch remains. The long-term exploitation of oiled parquet boards requires more frequent maintenance, however it is cheaper in the respect of the price than the exploitation varnished ones. The renewal of oiled flooring does not require polishing, it is sufficient to wipe it clean, let it dry and re-cover the surface with the oil.  In contrast to the lacquered surface, renewing individual areas, any difference in the shades is not present. Oiled floors are gaining popularity intensive use of public premises, because their surfaces are easier, faster, and simpler to renew.
• Renewing a lacquered floor, it is necessary to polish it and then re-vanish the whole surface. However the renovation of lacquered floors is significantly less frequent and their everyday maintenance is simpler.  Vanish protects the wood better against shocks, scratches and the temporary effect of liquids, unfortunately the naturalness of the floor is lost, dust, prints, scratches are more visible on it.
• Parquet boards are glued on a wooden or concrete surface using special glue for that purpose. Fixing with screw-nails or nails is possible, however the better method is gluing, thus creaking is avoided.   The humidity of the concrete surface, on which the floor is to be glued, shall not exceed 2.5 %. Choosing adhesives for parquet bonding, it is necessary to pay attention not only to the foundation, but also to the parquet which you are intending to bond. Some adhesives are suitable to massive boards, other - to parquet boards.

Engineered floor

These parquet planks are made with two layers of wood glued together. The 4 mm thick top layer of the hardwood, lamella, may be treated with oil or varnish, depending on your choice. The characteristics of this layer determine the durability, resistance, maintenance and, of course, aesthetic looks of the flooring. The bottom layer is made of 9 mm or 12 mm thick thermal conductive and water resistant birch plywood whose main function is to make a parquet plank stable and prevent its deformation. Both layers are reliably glued together with the help of cold pressing.
